Harnessing Indigenous Traditional Knowledge for Climate Change Adaptation
Supported by the Pawanka Fund and implemented by AIWO-CAN, this project aims to harness the traditional knowledge of indigenous communities to strengthen their adaptation to climate change, improve household energy resilience and promote sustainable livestock practices, with a particular emphasis on women.
At this stage, the project has primarily conducted baseline studies in Cameroon and Congo in order to collect the data needed to plan the next phases. Very soon, awareness-raising and training activities will begin in the East and West Regions of Cameroon and in Congo, directly involving communities and building on their traditional practices.
These initiatives aim to strengthen the conservation and promotion of indigenous knowledge, improve livelihoods, support women’s empowerment and build the resilience of indigenous communities in the face of the effects of climate change.
