Pillar 5 — Prevention of and Response to Gender-Based Violence
- Poverty, gender inequality, and social exclusion are intersecting risk factors that increase Indigenous women’s vulnerability to gender-based violence and harmful practices. AIWO-CAN addresses these structural drivers through empowerment-based approaches integrated across all pillars, recognizing that economic autonomy and rights awareness are themselves forms of violence prevention.
- Activities include community sensitization and rights education, support for civil status documentation, protection and response services, and advocacy against harmful practices.
